Ghostbusters 2! I have it at last! Yay!
Did I mention my love for Dan Aykroyd yet today? Never mind. Ghostbusters 2!
Heh. I'm a geek. Look:
You are 40% geek
You are a geek liason, which means you go both ways. You can hang out with normal people or you can hang out with geeks which means you often have geeks as friends and/or have a job where you have to mediate between geeks and normal people. This is an important role and one of which you should be proud. In fact, you can make a good deal of money as a translator.

Normal: Tell our geek we need him to work this weekend.

You [to Geek]: We need more than that, Scotty. You'll have to stay until you can squeeze more outta them engines!

Geek [to You]: I'm givin' her all she's got, Captain, but we need more dilithium crystals!

You [to Normal]: He wants to know if he gets overtime.

Take the Polygeek Quiz at Thudfactor.com

Proof of my geekity!
Matthew and Ross are being loud in the kitchen, I must go mediate.
They are arguing about whether Bacardi contains vodka. How odd. Anyway. I wish me and the father dear could stay at the convention until Monday, they're going to dunk Paul Rood in banana instant whip. I want to watch. But sadly no... we are leaving early for France. Anyway, I am part of the Discworld social elite. Odd.
The orthodontist told me to avoid drinking tea, but after I had 4 cups yesterday due to dangerously low caffeine levels I decided it probably wasn't going to work. So I'm just going to drink tea anyway.
Now I have a sudden urge to play Arcanum, so... farewell!
[yesterday's lifeday]
Today I went to the dentist and had little, circly metal things cemented on to some of my teeth. I don't understand why, but I'm not arguing. I made two more appointments for September... one of them, Mr Chate (the orthodontist) will actually be there for 10 minutes. Amazing.
Yesterday was Naomi's party. I didn't really know many people there, apart from Lisa, Rhiannon, Naomi and Florence. We had jelly and ice cream... Dad insists it should be ice cream and jelly. Ha! Then Lisa, Rhi, Florence, me, Helen and um... Lucy, I think... went to Jonathan's house and serenaded him until he came outside. Back at the party, Laura drew whiskers on him with eyeliner (Lisa had 'lemons' written on her head, also). After her party we went to Florence's house and Lisa spilled shandy on my hair. Lovely. Then we kidnapped Sam, and played Scabby Queen, Pass the Pig and Whist. Also the boys had never heard of Consequences (possibly because they were never 12 year old girls) so we played that. A fun day.
Now, I have to eat food, tidy the playroom and my room, and have my hair cut. Excuse me.
[family bonding (feh)]
I just survived it. My arms are sunburnt and I'm all icky and caravanny. But Lisa slept in a tent, so I was at least not sharing this time.
Although we had fun, of course.
And I discovered I can still eat chips, which is of the good.
Plus I got mailart when I got back, woohoo!
[squee!]
Chronicle 4! (The lovely Discworld Con update).
Complete with deranged picture of Rincewind. Very cool. Apparently we get name badges, I am amused. I want to go! ::jumps around impatiently:: Ee ee!
So hyperactive.
And Tara made me a lovely Red Dwarf desktop wallpaper, which I love. But I think I need to leave Elwood's hands there for a while first.
Don't you love when you check email and you have them from all your favourite people? Chris, Naomi, Tara, Kelly, Oscar (I mean... Oscar! Squeela!), Tyler, Doe, the FloMo (heh... Florence) and Valerie! Only Laura and my day would be complete... but she emailed me yesterday.
Ah the wonders of the internet.
My DW costume is almost complete too... just need pipecleaners, and to find some of my many pieces of jewellery that are somewhere on my floor, I expect. I'm so in love with my stripy socks... I think I'll wear them on results day, for comic effect. Heh. Or, you know, not. Depending on my mood.
Haha... apparently I'm part of the "Discworld social elite". I love it.
[tralala]
Well, they didn't extract them even a bit. Odd.
Never mind. Julie and Michael phoned to see if I was still alive... I feel so loved :) <g>
It appears that the winner of Big Brother is Kate, who my darling friend Chriss was at school with. Lisa thinks Kate should buy Chriss a boat. Ha.
Tomorrow us Bobs, and Julie and Michael, are going to Newbourne, and then also to the pub with the alligator pond. Supergroove.
So relaxed... have very little homework left to do (except Mr Griffith's stupid iteration/errors thing and the sheets to do 'for fun', which I have uh... misplaced, shall we say?)... lots of things to write (Istria-bunnies, for some reason)... Ghostbusters 2 DVD via eBayage will turn up also soon (having a real Dan Aykroyd moment, for some odd reason). Happy.
Apart from these stupid square thingies which are scratching the insides of my lips all to death, but I'm sure I'll get used to them, so who even cares, eh?
And it's Naomi's party on Tuesday too. Fabulous.
Heh, later on there's a film version of 1984 on channel 4. How amusing.
That reminds me, the other day at dinner:
Lisa: (random things about Big Brother that to be honest, I wasn't really listening to because I don't actually care a lot)
Dad: Oh please. Big Brother is so sad.
Me: Big Brother... that's just so 1984.
Well, I thought it was funny, so did the parents. Lisa thought it was funny after I explained it. Matthew didn't, but then it's well established that he has no sense of humour, right?
Never mind.
The wallpaper on the computer right now is Elwood's hands (like... Blues Brothers. So you can see he has one hand tatooed with 'ELWO' and the other with 'OD'). The computer likes to reset itself to 256 colours instead of uh... 32-bit, I think? and when it does that his hands are all green and pink, and moldy looking. Most amusing.
Maybe I have too much of a sense of humour. I find everything funny at the moment... guess I'm just in that kind of mood, you know... 2nd-week mood. Nothing to do, but not so much so that you're bored yet, and not yet panicking about the fact you haven't finished homework or whatever.
Still, I only have... iteration/errors, about 2 questions of physics comprehension (harmonics, or something... something I haven't done anyway, I hope it's in my textbook) and writing that personal statement for my UCAS form. Ick. Well, once I get started it'll be fine I guess... can't be bothered yet.
Hm. Haven't packed yet. What do I need... Clothes for Sunday... books... Blues Brothers CD and my walkman... paper... pen. Probably about it. Oh, and hayfever stuff and tooth stuff. Yes.
And we only go for one night so we don't even have to put up the awning, which is the worst bit, usually.
Well, now I must go and email Kelly, and then pack, and then do the tooth thing (there's these weird yellow bristly things for under the wires, pink food colouring, and fluoride stuff... ick) and sleep.
Sounds like a plan!
[:(]
Only three and a half hours until I get my teeth pulled... however the sibs are happy because that means family bonding won't start until tomorrow, so they can watch Big Brother.
Not happy.
[help]
I have the square brace thingies. How am I meant to eat anything?
[antici....pation]
So I watched the Blues Brothers for the 8th time (how???) and now I'm half-watching RHPS for the variation. I burned the BB soundtrack so I can annoy people with it throughout the entire weekend (when we go off to the camping land).
Today Matthew and Daniel charmingly woke me up really early (feh) and later me, Lisa and Amy W went to the little year 6 leaving assembly at the primary school. Sehr fun.
And tomorrow I'm getting bracimified.
[relaxation]
So, now I'm on holiday, doing the exact same things I normally do anyway. Ah well.
I'm downloading mp3s of the Blues Brothers (obsessive much?) and I just noticed the first song in the movie is She Caught The Katy. I am unreasonably amused by this.
Also there's a Stevie Winwood song... his niece (Zelah) went to my primary school. Although that's not as fun.
The Monday Mission:
1. Do you remember your first encounter with computers? Tell me about that.
My parents had one before I was born, so... no. But I remember Fun School... a load of weird little games to teach you stuff, for example it showed you a small letter and you had to find the corresponding capital on the keyboard. Also there was Max, a little orange blob. You wrote like 'walk' or 'fly' or 'explode' or whatever, and he did.
2. How late can you stay up and still be functional the next day? Do you do that very often?
Functional... about half one. Willing to get up? Well... never, really. Today I got up at midday.
3. When was the last really good hug you got from another adult? Who was it and what was the situation?
What d'you mean, another adult? Since when am I an adult? The last hug from someone the same age as me was Megan, on Friday. Lots of hugs. Because it was the last day of term, but I think that last hug was Megan.
4. One thing about children is that they all like to draw. We all shared the same ability and skill level at one time. Do you still like to draw? (Not do you think you draw well, or do others, but do you like to?) If not, how come? Did you get discouraged at some point?
I am genetically incapable of drawing recognisable objects, apart from giraffes, snails, niggles, sheep, crabs, bats and dragons, which I can only draw if I draw them in exactly the same way each time.
5. I way overslept today. I had to head to work with no shower (don't get too close), and I am not in the best of moods. Have you ever overslept on a day you had something important going on? What's the story there?
Um... I don't think I've ever drastically overslept. Sometimes I get up about 10 minutes before I have to leave on a schoolday, but I'm usually up incredibly early if something important is going to happen.
6. Ever go shopping for something you know you can't afford? You look at it and even think about how it will look when you get it home, somehow you justify the cost and believe it can happen? And just before you get to the counter come to your senses? What was the last thing you almost bought, but thought better of it? And why the heck do we do that to ourselves?
I hate shopping.
7. (It begins again...) It's all such a blur now. I'd asked you to help me wake up but the alarm didn't go off. It was 10 till and just I knew I'd be late. Somehow you got me here on time. How did you do that?
With my mystical powers, of course.
BONUS: Can't you see, you belong to me?
Um... yeah.
[stuff happened]
We went to Sutton Hoo. That's an Anglo-Saxon burial ground, as far as I could make out.
Then, we went to see Minority Report. Good... but a bit icky in parts.
Now I must sleep.
[and]
I got a Christmas present from shop!Jo today!
[so, so happy]
And I am now on holiday! Lots of people I won't see until results day... or even further in the future. And Naomi is going to America.
In multiple frees we (being my form) watched Jurassic Park (eep) and The Great Muppet Caper. I don't think Margarethe really appreciates the Muppets.
Zara and Lauren got certificates for Young Enterprise (Zara got a distinction! Whee!) which was cool... and on the bus... um... Florence was teaching Ryan to be a cheerleader, Sam sat on the floor and everyone poked him with bits of stick, and Lucie and Lisa tried to take Adam's shirt off. Odd.
Holiday!
[!]
One lesson left until the holidays!
[rhythm and blues revue]
But first: Happy birthday to my mum!
And as to the subject... Blues Brothers. My darling father borrowed BB and BB2000 on DVD from... one of the Steves, and yesterday I watched the first one. Matthew was an hour into the second when I got home (damn him) and I'm trying not to listen to it so I can watch it properly... but I want to watch! It's so torturous!
I have promoted BB to my alltime favourite film, because it's just too, too funny. I could list amusing moments on and on and end up basically quoting the entire film, I guess, so I won't.
And it has Dan Aykroyd (dammit... how do you spell him?), who I love. Except his hair is even stupider than his Stantz-hair, but at least he wears a hat most of the time.
[blogchalking]
Google! DayPop! This is my blogchalk: English, United Kingdom, Essex, Colchester, Katy, Female, 16-20! (cause google, etc. are fools... go to blogchalking.tk to learn more.)
[feeling kinda demented]
So, in my little referrer thingy it says:
for stockings lesbian OR transvestite OR transsexual OR transexual OR shemale "school uniform" -asian
Er... yeah. Whatever.
Today I am ill, and at home. Matthew is being a fool.
Tomorrow is my darling mother's birthday, always fun! I can never think of anything to buy her. So I bought her a book. Heh.
It's also 5 days to go until the one-year anniversary of this website. On the 20th. Woo!
3113 visitors. That's lots. So, happy.
And about due for another redesign, because this is looking more and more pink all the time.
Hm... Matthew just gave me £10 for no apparent reason. Odd.
And also, I have nearly finished Canterbury Tales. Then I'll have to read War and Peace. Argh.
[:)]
Scooby Doo was hilarious. Really. Go see it... I won't spoilerise for you! And it was also groovy to see Ruth.
Sport Relief is cool too! Donate donate, and why has Bob Mortimer been on yet?
[saturday 8]
Saturday-8: "My Written Life"
  1. How many times have you changed your blog/journal/diary URL so far? Any reason for each "moving"?
This is number 7. Boredom, boredom, boredom, spam, spam, boredom.

  2. How do you feel when someone left a nasty message in your guestbook/tag-board? What do you usually do to that kind of person?
Mildly irritated, but mostly just... I think they need to find a more rewarding hobby.

  3. What is the blog/diary/journal you read most often lately? (URL, please) Why is it so interesting?
Hm. That'd be the Big White Guy, cause he's cool.

  4. Do you really read your past entries/postings often? Why and why not?
No. Only if I need to know the exact date I did something.

  5. What things can make a blog/journal/diary so boring? And we all know, that even though we keep saying that we write whatever we want to write, sometimes there are thing we want to write but we don't because of "this-and-that" things, those "unwritten" laws. Personally, what are they, you think?
If they go on and on about people you don't know... oh wait, that's what I do! :)

  6. How important is the layout for a blog/journal/diary? Where or who do you run to when you need some HTML help? (URL, please)
As long as you can see where everything is, it's ok. I generally can do most of it by myself, actually.

  7. What is the latest trend in the blogland/diaryland? Do you always keep up with the dynamic life or the change there?
    Um... ?

  8. What is more important for you: your privacy or your freedom to write? Explain.
Freedom to write. If there's something I don't want people to know, I just won't write it on the internet, ne? I don't get people writing journals online and then getting hugely angry because someone actually reads it.

EXTRA:
How much you depend on writing your blog daily? Do you miss something if you couldn't write for quite some times? Do you think you will write forever, or you will only write until you're "delivered" from the current situation (confusion, sadness, depression) you are facing right now, or if your "searching" is over?

I write for something to do... and cause it amuses Lisa, I guess. That's about it. If I'm not blogging I'll just be doodling on paper anyway.

[bad katy. no biscuit]
Since getting FFX I've already played it for 8 1/2 hours. And tomorrow me and Ruth are cineing to see Scooby Doo! And she's going to lend me mathy books... which is good, because after I finish Canterbury Tales I'd have been back on War and Peace again, which is never good.
The no biscuit? I left school at 10 to 11 today even though I used up all my offsite time on Wednesday and Thursday, and we were all told everyone had to stay until lunch for an important assembly. Ah well.
[woohoo!]
I bought FFX!
And now mum wants the computer.
[today was, like, totally fantabulous]
Being the only person in registration (until Nina and Alice appeared, anyway), I actually made Dr Parrott laugh! Yay me! Then I had physics by myself again... oh the joy. But I had a free after and since it was induction day... I went to help Mr Metcalfe teach physics to little year 6s. It was so fun, I was a teacher... ha!
Then I had another free in which I sat in G2 with Nina and Alice... read my book (Canterbury Tales... I never knew Chanticleer was from that, uncultured buffoon that I am... hee!) and did little else, really. In assembly I had to sit on the stage, in a chair. Scary. I didn't know what to look at.
At lunch I played hangman, with Alice, Nina and the twins. I did, um... perplexity, precipitation, zeitgeist and the huge long word of doom.
On the bus Florence made me wear a fireman's hat, like, all the time. It was very funny.
[unsymmetrical foolishness]
Seeing as I only had two lessons today, one of which with two other people and the other with just me (all by my little self... the fear), today I'm just going to witter on about the bus.
Richard was being very annoying.
He said that everyone had to sit in symmetry, or the bus would fall over. And since he was sitting opposite me, he proceeded to imitate everything I did the entire way home (well... to Wivenhoe, cause he gets off the bus before I do). He's such a fool. Also, Ryan was singing songs about fish. And reading over my shoulder, replacing every noun in the book with the word 'fish'. Argh.
[update.]
Fear the Hello Kitty teeth!
Today. Only one lesson, and that was just maths. Most of our maths class are counting barnacles in Wales, I gather (some biology-related thing anyway), so we just worked. I was also supposed to have physics, but as only me and Lucy were in school today I didn't bother. Mr Bowles came and apparently told me off at lunch time for that, but I can't say I noticed. Mostly he was just talking to Kathryn about work experience.
A while ago Mr Bowles challenged Kathryn to shock him, so we're going to electrocute him with the aid of a Van der Graaff generator. Maybe an electric shock's not quite what he had in mind, but it still counts, right?
The only people in today from our entire form were me, Kathryn and Nina. That was weird. But as both of them are particularly lovely and also highly amusing people, it was all cool.
Mr Schiachettano tells me they've found a way to switch off the hayfever gene. I hope so. It's so... irritating, like having a constant bad cold for 5 months of every single year. I hate it. But still, I suppose it could be worse.
On the back of my piano music book are such choice French phrases as 'plonger dans le groove' and 'les riffs funky'. How... French.
This afternoon I was helping to work on the school website, with Rachel. I have to make a page about the Old Girls Network. But where do I even start? How confusing. Also... we have to change the colours of everything... take a new photo of the staff... interview Mrs Ward and Mrs Webber. Many things. But it's not too difficult, and it'll look good on the UCAS form.
I seem to be spending my entire life trying to improve my UCAS form right now. It's madness.
Tomorrow all my lessons have been cancelled, so I get the whole day off school. Well, technically I should go in, but mum said she'd write me a sick note. She's so cool sometimes :)
Bought a birthday card for Lauren this morning. She'll be 19 on Wednesday, and tomorrow is the first anniversary of the day I met her, JB and Kerry, although it doesn't seem that long ago.
On the bus, Lisa, Lucie, Adam and Peter had a highlighter fight, and then a concealer fight. It was very... bizarre.
This weekend, mum and dad are going to France to stay with Chris and June. Claline is babysitting us, and Lisa is babysitting other random people on Saturday. I haven't seen Claline for so long, coolcool.
We (being random internet people) were talking about porn star names. It's supposed to be your first pet's name, then the name of either the road you live on or the road you grew up on. So I'm either Pip Worcester, or Pip B5062 (I think) which sounds more like a mecha than a porn star.
Only two weeks until the end of term, and then only a year until I leave school. That's so scary.
Now, I must go and write something for Alchera.
