Friday Five:
1. What are your hobbies?
Um... reading, doodling, redesigning my site, going to the cinema, watching RD or the Muppets... or eating, if that counts :) Oh! And land-mail art.
2. Do you collect anything? If so, what?
I collect books, postcards, videos, and earrings.
3. Is there a hobby you're interested in, but just don't have the time/money to do?
Uh... no?
4. Have you ever turned a hobby into a moneymaking opportunity?
.......no.
5. Besides web-related stuff (burbs, rings, etc.), what clubs do you belong to?
MupSoc, ha.
No, all is web-related, for I am a nerd.

So. Today we had to get the bus to school, because dad is getting drunk this evening and so will have to not drive home. When he got off the bus, all the purploids waved to him. It was a hoot.
I want a new layout.
I got 52/60 in the maths test yesterday, and we had another one today. Feh. I forgot how to find the length of the side of a triangle. Doh!
In General Studies we had a comprehension thing about whether comics should be allowed to make jokes about their own cultures or even those of other people. And it went into a discussion about general prejudice, during which Mr Pettit asked me if I was Jewish.
Can people not count? My star has 5 points. Not 6 points. About 12 people have asked me that this year. And (although this might just be my area) I've never seen a Jewish person wearing a six-pointed star anyway.
In French we were doing the questions on the oral cards we had in the mock oral exam, but writing them. And (for like the first time ever) Mrs Murray said I was good. Ah!
But she cannot persuade me, I'm dropping it and that is that.
At lunch... ate nong shim, and talked to Emily, Kathryn and Zara about MupSoc (the Muppet Society. We think they should have a society, and all the others - LawSoc, MedSoc, etc. - are just boring and not a bit muppetlike).
Ah. Someone is singing the Snowman badly on tv.
Also Kathryn and Nina have debating society, which consists of them debating whether Emily should go and buy the chocolate or not.
And now there is an evil budgie. Oh, it's You've Been Framed. Feh.
A personality test just told me I was the perfect role model. Ha. Everyone should try to be like me. Now that would be weird.
In the afternoon, I talked to Kathryn in the free part about Frankenstein and flying coffee, then in maths we were doing expressing imaginary numbers as polar coordinates. Which I love. And Mr Griffiths had to leave early, so I talked to Anna about random things, and she gave me a carrier bag for my folder because a) it was raining and b) she is lovely.
And the bus was late, so we all froze to death in the wind and near-rain. And then the bus was vastly over-crowded, so I read my book (about Turing machines so far) at people.

What do you mean, less is more? Less is less, you malfrat. More is more.
Bored, bored... ooh, a prospectus.

Blogger Insider questions! From Martin.
1. All right, my first question has to be about the Muppets. What would cause you to develop an interest? I ask because I'm one of the biggest Muppet freaks on the planet, but that's because I grew up with them. I watched new episodes of the Muppet Show as they were released! What awakened your interest?
Grr... Jealous. I want the Muppets. Okay, the reason I first started loving the Muppets? My Grandad bought me Muppet Treasure Island for Christmas. I'd seen various Muppet-things before (Christmas Carol and Muppets Tonight, mostly) but only when I was little and unable to grasp the full brilliance of them. I watched it... and then again... and then a few more times... and then I was hooked. And bought a few more videos to avoid repetitiveness. The Muppets are hilarious, and cute, and I always remark at least once on how they have to be real because there's no way puppeteering could look so good.
2. Given where you are geographically, I wonder if you ever watch(ed) any of the Monty Python stuff, and what you thought? It's all the rage here, but things sometimes get more lukewarm the closer to home they are.
I love Monty Python! It is so hilarious. But I think you're right... way more of my friends from the Internet (mainly Americans, I think) have heard of it than my real life friends. Weird.
3. You and I share almost the same birthday (mine's the 21st). It sounds like birthdays are still a big deal to you. Why? For me, they're not so much of an event anymore.
Um... I figure from your bio that you must be older than me, so maybe that's why? I don't know, really. I always get over-excited by birthdays. They're the only day I ever get up on time.
4. Is there a reason (beyond the inability to do so) that you don't put any pictures of yourself up on your site?
Not really... I did have pictures before, on my envy.nu site, but when they died I had to take it down. And I don't really have a site where I can store it anymore.
5. You're a self-proclaimed cinema freak. Name your top 5 movies of all time.
Okay: The Dark Crystal, The Breakfast Club, Muppets Take Manhattan (sadly), Shrek, and Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.
6. You describe yourself as "vaguely pagan". What's that? (As a religious studies scholar, such things interest me *grin*).
OKay. Well, I believe all the main pagan beliefs (reincarnation, multiple gods, karma...) but I'm yet to find a tradition which I agree with completely. Also, my parents are kind-of Church of England (like, Agnostic) and my sister... counts herself as Christian but believes in reincarnation (which I find very confusing) and we always celebrate Christmas (and although that's a Christian festival we aren't very religious during it) as a kind of family tradition. So 'vaguely Pagan' is the most accurate term I could come up with.
7. You've said you love the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I found that interesting, as I didn't get to like it until my 20's (now, I go to see it once a year at least). What about it do you find lovable? (oh, and as a side note, if you liked Rocky, you -must- someday see "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" - it's astounding, and in my opinion, blows Rocky away, and that's saying something).
::writes Hedwig on the list::
For a start, I love musicals. Musicals are generally good in my opinion (oh wait - except Annie. That's just irritating.). Also, it's very funny. (Hmm. Things which are funny seem to be a recurring theme in my likes. Ah well.) Plus it is very good for nitpicking. Like, when they say about the laser capable of emitting a beam of pure anti-matter, I get to shout "That's not what a laser is, you idiot!" at my tv. I love to nitpick, because I'm just annoying like that. And the whole RiffRaff/Magenta thing is just hilarious.
You know, they always used to play Time Warp at the discos my primary school had. Weird. Exposing 9-year-olds to Rocky Horror, probably a bad idea.
8. It's said among my group of friends that any one person can do three things better than anyone else. What are your three?
Three? Okay... I guess, maths will be one of them. I love algebra. Because I am, in fact, a nerd. Or maybe a dweeb. Hm. And I'm pretty good at it.
Poeie says "you're really good at combining words in new and interesting ways".
And apparently I am also good at making people laugh.
9. Did you know that there are incredible religious undertones in "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep"? Could you pick them out by watching Bladerunner? Do you often look for meaning in movies and books that resides deeper than the story?
There are? Damn, now I'm going to have to read it again. I've actually never seen Bladerunner, so I'm not sure about that one.
I do look for deeper meaning in things a lot... but only the second time. First time I read/watch, I look at just the bits I'm supposed to watch. Then, I look for meaning. Then I watch the background to see what the actors do when they're not the focus of attention (in a film, that is. Not in a book. That would be daft.), and then I nitpick. Then I read/watch a few more times, for luck.
10. You seem to have a lot of free time you need to "suck" up. What if life gets way more busy? What would be the first 5 things you currently do regulary that you'd give up if time no longer allowed?
Oh yes. I am easily bored.
Okay, I'd give up reading most of the blogs that I read every day. I'd put all my mailing lists onto digest mode instead of individual posts, so I could read them more quickly. I'd stop leaving my homework until the middle of the night and do it as soon as possible instead of watching rubbish children's tv (to wind my brain down.. also some of it's amusing in it's rubbishness). I'd give up... uh... some of the tv that I watch even though I hate it. And probably also I'd have to not read, like, continually.

So bored today... hot... sleepy. Feh.
Also I didn't fail any of the maths tests I got back today. Which is good.
I just watched Muppet Christmas Carol! Which Emily lent me.
And a card and a letter from Dervy!

Today was the cool!
For no particular reason, but it was.
I don't think I'm very good at statistics. Mrs Maltwood wrote "What are you doing???" on my homework. Bad sign?
French was of the bizarre, as Poeie might say. Mrs Hawkins was taking orals and left us sheets, but no instructions, so we all stared at them blankly. One of them went on about mushroom towns, for some reasons.
At lunch, Mr Bowles was weird at me. Unusual! He was in our form room talking to Emily about something, and on his way back to the land of teachers:
Mr Bowles: Ah, I see your hair is back to a normal colour, then?
Me: ...my hair is purple.
Mr Bowles: It must be diet related.
Me: Er... yes.
Fool.
Ha! Zerrie sent me a virtual teddy bear. He's so weird.
I have Scooter and Fozzie singing in my head. Which is nice.
In Physics we got given the Physics Planning thingy, which will be worth 2.5% of our final mark.
Oh the stress.
Sam got to ceremonially open the envelope... it's all solenoids and magnetic flux density and stuff. So we talked about Eddie Izzard instead.
After school I went shopping... payed in the cheque from Grandad, bought Dervy's card, bought biros, paper and passport photos...
And when I got home, there was a card from Poeie! It was the cute :) I love Poeie ::blows kisses::
And soon will be Monday TV. Coolness. Malcolm in the Middle, Shooting Stars and that. Fun.
Did anyone else see Blackadder Back and Forth last night? It was so, so funny, but then Blackadder always is. And the time machine was very Starbucket. Besides the added bonus of Hugh Laurie (who is yummy) there was much hilarity. Blackadder beat up Shakespeare (that's for every boy and girl for the next four hundred years!), and tried to explain Tesco bonus points to Queen Elizabeth I (Okay, imagine a market times ten. A super-market, as it were.)
And Rik Mayall was in it. Who is also yummy. So it was generally quite fabulous.

As the final birthday-thing, today us Boblings went to Ask in Colchester for eats. I had minestrone soup, and fusilli al pesto. Mmm.
Yum.
Yum.
Happy the day after my birthday!
My birthday lasts from last Wednesday until tomorrow this year. Last year it went all the way up to October, but there you go.
Me and Matthew were just watching the Dark Crystal, and I'd forgotten the complete scariness of it. Although Matthew kept going "mmMMmm" every time the Chancellor was on-screen.
I'll have to watch the rest of it soon.

I have multiple stuff!
And I'm all happy :)

Idoru is a most weird book. But very good.
Day of blahness... Mr Griffiths kept going on about the mathematical olympiad, which I will now go and look up.

Bonjour... so... um... did I update yesterday?
If not... Ali G was very funny, and Ruth bought me a crocodile. Which I have called Ali G Ator at my dad's suggestion.
And I am home like an hour and a half early! Cool and groovy :)
And I am home like an hour and a half early! Cool and groovy :)
I have retired :(
Mum has tootled off to the South of France with Claline, leaving us poor beans to fend for ourselves. We're having fish and chips for dinner tonight.
So. Tomorrow I am off to be social with Ruth, and this may involve going to see Ali G at the Odeon. Fun!
And on Monday is another mock Physics practical (actually, the mock practical, the one last week was the mock mock practical!) which I will not be late for. Honest.
Wednesday is a day of non-pupilage, so I'm having my lovely party... and Friday is my birthday! Lalala!

Bonjour... je suis la queen of French. Okay, maybe not... but I didn't fail it. Although Mrs Murray said I was too uptight.
I have about eighty-four-thousand emails. Wow.
Anyway. In General Studies we had a talk about astronomy, which was interesting (and the subject of today's part of my Alchera collab). And mostly nothing else happened.
After school I got my provisional license form (at last), and now Claline is here!

And a joke which Dad just emailed me:
Two hydrogen atoms walk into a bar. One says, "I think I've lost an electron."
The other says "Are you sure?"
The first says, "Yes, I'm positive..."
You give me chemistry jokes?!

Blogger Insider questions from Gabriel.
1.) What does blogging/journaling mean to you? Does it have a meaning for you or are you just "following the crowd"?
Blogging is a good timesuck! But other than that... I use it to write down things that make me laugh, and things I think I'm going to want to remember. And also it makes some people laugh, which is always a good thing. But mainly, it's just fun.
2.) Which blog or journal has influenced you the most?
Oh, gosh... um... the first blog I started reading regularly was the bwg update, so I guess he gets part-credit for inspiration. And Weblog Wannabe is a good read and also where I got this layout, too.
3.) What is the most dangerous or scariest situation you have ever been in?
To be honest, I can't think of one. I'm a complete coward, so I tend to avoid anything that might possibly be scary to me.
4.) Where is your favourite place to be?
On the computer, cause I'm sad like that. Or maybe the Sanctuary, although I suppose since it technically doesn't exist that doesn't really count.
5.) You have a birthday in 9 days or so... what would be your dream birthday present this year?
Oh yes! So near to my birthday! Um... what I really, really want this year is the Dark Crystal on DVD. I love the Dark Crystal.
6.) What is the best birthday present anyone has ever given you?
Uh... Final Fantasy 8. I'd say 9, but that was a Christmas present. Hours of timesuck.
7.) What is your most recent obsession?
That would have to be the Muppets. Oh the Muppets! How I love them :)
9.) At what age would you consider yourself as "old?"
32.
10.) Why did you sign up for Blogger Insider?
I was running low on ideas for things to Blog, and it seemed like a good plan.
11.) Did you notice there is no question number 8 ?
Yes. Do you know, the tv in here has no channel 6? Okay, so there is no terrestrial channel 6 in Britain, but when you flick through the channels it goes straight from 5 to 7.
